I went into today Sunday feeling good. My swimming has been getting better and better with times dropping every week. I really had no fear about the swim at all. No reason in my mind why I shouldn't be in front pack. Gun goes off and first 500m I was on Paul Matthew's feet but things just didn't feel right. Next thing I now the pack is gone. My arms are so heavy and with the effort I was putting out my HR was very low. Just barley managed to stay on he back of the pack that came by me.
Jumped on the QR CD0.1 with my new Profile Design wheels....did not do them justice! They make a very nice wheel. Wheels felt amazing but again I just couldn't get going. Same story. My HR was low and I was pushing as hard as I could and I just kept on getting dropped my riders.
Once the run came around I really wanted to drop but the way I was treated at Rev 3 I figured I would get my long run in for the week. At about mile 6 I shut it down. Had a a few long chats with spectators, took a liter of coke from the aid station and had a good old time chatting, eating, and working on my tan.
Eagleman 70.3 is in a few days and my wife and I decided to stick with the dirty double plan. Lots of rest and beer prescribed. I know I'm fit just a little over cooked. Hope my body turns around and I can have a great race in Cambridge.
cheers,
JC
